DIVINE POOP SERIES
Original surrealist paintings by TheArtist.NYC, a mythological universe built from automatic drawing. Collector originals available. New York.
Somewhere on the horizon, a city skyline rises. New York itself? The ultimate civilization built from divine residue. The creatures who built it never looked up. They just kept building.
This is not a series about religion. It is not a series about spirituality. It is a complete cosmology, a universe with its own logic, its own creatures, its own architecture. Look closer. They're already there.
Divine Poop is a mythological universe built on a simple and devastating idea: that we are tiny creatures existing near something so vast and incomprehensible that all we can do is consume what falls from it. We call it nourishment. We call it progress. We have no idea what we're actually feeding from.
I don't know where it comes from. Nothing in this universe is planned. Sometimes the work arrives all at once, automatic, instinctive, already there before I've decided anything, and I refine it afterwards. Other times it comes slowly, mark by mark, without a destination. Both ways lead to the same place. The divine scenes appear on their own. The eyes come first, always. Grand, cosmic, ancient. And then, just when the whole thing risks taking itself too seriously, in come the little cranky birds, going about their tiny business as if nothing incomprehensible is happening overhead. That tension between the vast and the absurd is not an accident. It is the whole point.
This universe has its own rules, its own creatures, its own architecture, and it is far from complete. New inhabitants arrive. New structures rise. I will be building this world for the rest of my life, and I have no idea what it will become.
Neither do the birds.
